FLUCONAZOLE - 150 mg

                                            FLUCONAZOLE- 150mg

Fluconazole is a first generation triazole antifungal medications, used for a number of fungal infections.

USE:- 

The treatment of non-systemic candida infections of vagina, throat & mouth.

                            --- Candidiasis

                            --- blastomycosis

                            --- Cryptococcosis

                            --- histoplasmosis

                            --- Dermatophytosis



HOW WORKS?

Works by blocking the ability of the fungi candida and Cryptococcus to reproduce.


SIDE EFFECTS:-

Drowsiness, headache, diarrhea, liver damage, severe rash, adrenal gland problems------

symptoms are : belly pain, muscle weakness, appetite.


DOSE:- 

Depending upon severity mild case- weekly once or moderate case once a day for several days.

severe case- once daily.

INDICATIONS:- 

- Hepatotoxicity, hemodialysis, renal dysfunctions.

Anticoagulants or antiplatelet agents such as warfarin, albuterol interact with fluconazole.

Luliconazole Cream

 


Luliconazole trade names LUZU among others is an imidazole antifungal medication. As a 1% topical cream.


use:

To treat skin infections such as athlete's foot, jock itch and ring worm.

Treatment of fungal skin infections.

HOW WORKS?

Works by killing the fungi on the skin by destroying their cell membrane.


SIDE EFFECTS:

Application site irritation , itching & skin exfoliation.


DOSES:

usually applied once a day for 1 week- in jock itch & ringworm.


for Athlete's foot- applied once a day for 2 week.

MONTELUKAST

Montelukast is a leukotriene receptor antagonist used as part of an asthma therapy regimen, to prevent exercise induced bronchoconstriction, and to treat seasonal allergic rhinitis.



USE:-

Montelukast is used to prevent sneezing and runny nose due to allergies.

HOW WORKS?

Montelukast works by blocking the action of leukotriene, a chemical messenger. This reduces inflammation in the airways to prevent asthma and relieve symptoms of allergies.

SIDE EFFECTS:- 

Headache, Diarrhea, Abdominal pain, Fever, Upper respiratory tract infection.

HOW TO TAKE?

Montelukast is usually taken once a day with or without food. When montelukast is used to treat asthma, it should be taken in the evening. When montelukast is used to prevent breathing difficulties during exercise, it should be taken at least 2 hours before exercise.

ONSET OF ACTION:-

Montelukast starts to work immediately to reduce leukotriene levels in your body (which make your symptoms worse). However, it may take around a week before it reaches its full effect.

IUPAC NAME:-

(E,Z)-2-(1-((1-(3-(2-(7-Chloroquinolin-2-yl)vinyl)phenyl)-3-(2-(2-hydroxypropan-2-yl)phenyl)propylthio)methyl)cyclopropyl)acetic acid.

INTERACTIONS:-

Do not take non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as aspirin or ibuprofen.

LEVOCETRIZINE

 LEVOCETRIZINE IS A 2nd GENERATION ANTIHISTAMINE USED FOR THE TREATMENT OF ALLERGIC RHINITIS & LONG TERM HIVES OF UNCLEAR CAUSE. IT IS LESS SEDATING THAN OLDER ANTIHISTAMINES. 




HOW IT WORKS? 

LEVOCETRIZINE IS AN ANTIHISTAMINIC MEDICATION.IT TREATS ALLERGY SYMPTOMS SUCH AS ITCHING, SWELLING, & RASHES BY BLOCKING THE EFFECTS OF A CHEMICAL MESSENGER (HISTAMINE) IN THE BODY. 


SIDE EFFECTS:- 

SLEEPINESS, FATIGUE, DRYNESS IN MOUTH, HEADACHE, VOMITING, NASOPHARYNGITIS (inflammation of the throat and nasal passages).


USE:- 

TREATMENT OF ALLERGIC CONDITIONS, SUCH AS- watery eyes, runny noses, itching eyes/nose, sneezing.


DOSE:- 

ODPC X 5mg 



ONSET OF ACTION:- 

LEVOCETRIZINE DIHYDROCHLORIDE 5mg WAS FOUND TO HAVE AN ONSET OF ACTION 1 HOUR AFTER ORAL INTAKE.

FEXOFENADINE

Fexofenadine is an antihistamine medicine that helps with the symptoms of allergies. Fexofenadine is known as a non-drowsy antihistamine. It's less likely to make you feel sleepy than some other antihistamines.



AVAILABLE TABLET FORM:- 

   30mg, 60mg, 120mg, 180mg

USES:- 

Fexofenadine is used to relieve the allergy symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis (''hay fever''), including runny nose; sneezing; red, itchy, or watery eyes; or itching of the nose, throat, or roof of the mouth in adults and children 2 years of age and older. It is also used to relieve symptoms of urticaria (hives; red, itchy raised areas of the skin), including itching and rash in adults and children 6 months of age and older.

DOSES:- 

  • 120mg once a day for adults and children aged 12 years and over.
  • 30mg twice a day for children aged 6 to 11 years, with the doses spaced 10 to 12 hours apart
  • The usual dose for treating hives is 180mg once a day for adults and children aged 12 years and over.


SIDE EFFECTS:- 

The most common side effects include headache, back and muscle pain, miosis or pinpoint pupils, nausea, drowsiness, and menstrual cramps.



HOW IT WORKS:- 

Fexofenadine is an antihistaminic medication. It treats allergy symptoms such as itching, swelling, and rashes by blocking the effects of a chemical messenger (histamine) in the body.


EXPERT ADVICE:- 

  1. Fexofenadine may cause less sleepiness as a side effect compared to other similar medicines.
  2. Avoid drinking fruit juices (such as apple or orange) as this may affect the absorption of this medicine and cause more side effects.
  3. t may cause nausea. Stick to simple meals, and do not eat rich or spicy food.
  4. Avoid using antacids 30 minutes before or after taking this medicine. It can make it harder for your body to absorb this medicine.
  5. Never give the medicine to someone who seems to be suffering from a similar illness. This medicine should be taken only if prescribed by a doctor.

DOXYCYCLINE

 DOXYCYCLINE is a tetracycline group antibiotics which available in the market as syrup, Tablet, capsule & injection form. 

DOXYCYCLINE is a broad- spectrum tetracycline class antibiotics used in the treatment of infections caused by bacteria & certain parasites. 




USE:- 

Treat bacterial infection - pneumonia,acne, Chlamydia infection, Lyme disease, typhus, cholera, syphilis. 

It is also used to prevent malaria in combination with quinine.


HALF-LIFE:- 16 to 22 hours. 

FORMULA:- C²²H²⁴N²O⁸

SIDE EFFECTS:- Diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, risk of sunburn. 

INTERACTION:- Dairy , Antacid, calcium supplements, iron products. 

HOW IT WORKS:- 

work by killing bacteria by stopping them from making the proteins that they need to survive starts working in as little as 2 hours after taking it. But depending on the infection you have it may take upto 24 to 48 hours to start seeing it's effect. 




****IMPORTANT NOTES::--

  1. During pregnancy & lactating mothers not recommended this medicine
  2. Avoid dairy products for at least two hours before & after your dose.
  3. Doxycycline can interfere with penicillin antibiotics less effective.
  4. Alternatives of doxycycline:- minocycline, Azithromycin, Erythromycin.
