TRIAMCINOLONE ACETONIDE

Intermediate acting, relatively powerful steroid. It blocks the breakdown of the blood ocular barrier by modifying the vascular endothelial growth factor ( VEGF) receptor. It is used in both anterior as well as posterior segment disorder.

USES:- 
A. Giant papillae & vernal keratoconjunctivitis (VKC)
B. Sub-tenon injection of triamcinolone useful in resolving CME due to posterior segment inflammation. 
E.g :- uveitis, diabetes, post- cataract surgery, post venous occlusion. However IOP must be carefully monitored post injection.
C. Intravitreal triamcinolone acitonide: it is useful in the management of postuveitic macular edema, post BRVO/CRVO, Macular edema & choroidal neovascularization.
D. CHROMOVITRECTOMY:- use during vitrectomy surgery both in the anterior & posterior segment.
E. TRIAMCINOLONE:- used in cases of atopic keratoconjunctivitis or other allergic disorder of conjunctiva or lids.
